02Biography · cleared for publication

Lucas Yao is an 11-year-old chess player, classical pianist, actor, and young creative from Vancouver, British Columbia. He holds three chess titles — National Master, Candidate Master, and FIDE Master — and has represented Canada internationally at youth chess events.

Lucas’s music began early. He performed at Carnegie Hall at age 5, gave his first orchestra performance in Italy at age 7, and later made a debut recital at Vancouver’s Pyatt Hall. Away from the stage, he continues the ordinary daily work of lessons, practice, review, and school.

His path has also included acting, art, advanced mathematics, and memory work, including reciting 2,030 digits of pi by age 7. This site keeps the focus on verified milestones, the people supporting the work, and the opportunities still ahead.
